Ugandan doctors working on the healthcare system in Sub-Saharan Africa
Innovative Doctors Africa is a registered non-profit-making NGO founded by Ugandan doctors and healthcare professionals committed to transforming healthcare in Uganda and across Sub-Saharan Africa. We work to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable communities by providing accessible, quality, and evidence-based healthcare services.
Our multidisciplinary team of doctors, specialists, researchers, and other healthcare professionals delivers sustainable maternal and child health programs while supporting community health through mentorship and training. We also invest in developing the next generation of healthcare professionals through mentorship, training and practical learning opportunities. Our organisation is governed through a General Assembly of all members, an elected Advisory Board, and a secretariat that runs operations.

Dr. Chekwoti Maxwell
Executive Director
Dr. Chekwoti Maxwell is a medical doctor, researcher and public health specialist. He is the Executive Director and leads the secretariat, responsible for the organisation's programmes and its daily operations.
Prof. Roman Sabantale, Ph.D
Head of Research and Innovation
Prof. Roman Sabantale leads research and innovation. He leads clinical research projects in IDA
Kwemboi Larry Jeremiah
IT and Digital Systems
Kwemboi Larry Jeremiah runs IT and digital systems. He maintains the organisation's records, its website, and the digital tools its clinicians use in the field.
Dr. Cherop Rebecca
Project Coordinator
She is medical doctor with expertise in public health and community activities. Her role is to coordinate the activities of IDA.
Dr. Akol Michael
Health Director
He is a medical doctor, researcher and Public health specialist. He provides clinical leadership in the organization

How the work is meant to add up
Each step depends on the one before it. If a stage does not hold, the ones after it do not either, which is where we look first when something is not working.

Inputs
Member clinicians and their time, the equipment and medicines a vehicle can carry, and the sub-county spaces we are given to work in.

Activities
Mobile clinics, surgical camps, teaching sessions for junior doctors, school health talks, and clinician-led research.

Outputs
Patients examined and treated, operations completed, clinicians trained, referrals written, and findings recorded.

Outcomes
Early diagnosis, treatment, and referral to high-level care.

Impact
Vulnerable communities are reached, hence reduced mortality rates and improved health outcomes.
